This is impressive work, Tootly and the Caterpillar are so proud of you!
Dear Parent,
You may have noticed how the children are now learning the notes behind the familiar exercise songs. This will help in internalising pitch and musical value of notes. That in turn helps them to sing any combination they may encounter in songs they learn even on their own.
Please see our point wise feedback below:
Confidence and Independence – excellent
Understanding of the concept or exercise – excellent
Singing/ Pitching – excellent*
Rhythm – excellent
Overall control (volume, breath etc) – excellent
Pronunciation/ recollection of lyrics – excellent
Notes: Broadly, both Khevansh and Tirth have done great. Turth was a bit unsure when singing and a few more practices would help. They can sing together or sing half and half to improve fluency.
Both Khevansh and Tirth were dipping the end note in each phrase of the first exercise. Seems they have some thing stuck in their head, so might help to just listen to Tootly once again.
Singing these exercises in sargam is not an easy task – we hope you enjoy and appreciate the musical knowledge Khevansh and Tirth are gaining. Knowing the notes also helps us play the song on an instrument – so if you have a keyboard handy, you can now play these songs on the keyboard. Just google for which key is ‘C’ and start playing all the white keys from there! If you don’t have a keyboard – you can try to play here: http://www.musicca.com/piano . Just consider a white key labelled C as your ‘sa’ and ignore the rest of the labelling! Send us a video if you can 🙂
Look forward to hearing more from Tirth & Khevansh.
thank you so much for constructive feedback. both the kids are definitely learning music and at the same time enjoying it as well. Tirth and khevansh both try to read notes and then sing and therefore they took time. But, both boys are practising and I usually find them singing in car, in the bathroom while they are writing or coloring 🙂 So, it’s so good.
