Dear Ira,

Hope you liked making patterns with the rainbows and Tootly! Here are some more rainbows for you 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

Dear Parent,

We are now advancing in the vocal complexity we use in our exercises. We are also helping children β€˜visualise’ the patterns and the logic behind them, and slowly encourage them to create their own too. This set of exercises help internalise the base notes (sa and high sa) effectively, while also creating relative maps for the rest of the notes.

Ira has done the first exercise well and grasped the concept clearly. Please also see our point-wise feedback below (based on needs work/ good/ excellent):

Confidence and Independence – good
Understanding of the concept or exercise – excellent
Singing/ Pitching – good
Rhythm – excellent
Overall control (volume, breath etc) – excellent
Pronunciation/ recollection of lyrics – excellent

Note: Here are some tips for the second pattern: In this, the direction is revered, so first you come down from high SA (eg: sa ni dh pa) and then you go back up (pa dh ni sa). Encourage her to understand the logic behind the pattern. It is a tricky exercise but it will help to break it into 2 parts that you know already:

eg: when singing the line S-n-d-p-d-n-S’ ; think of it as β€˜S n d p + p d n S’
Sing each bit individually then together, then omit the extra p at the joining. Starting first with this line may make the rest easier.

It would be best to do this using the Tootly video. Pause the video after the phrase and then practice this way πŸ™‚

Look forward to hearing more from her. πŸ™‚
