Through this exercise, the child learns to (i) to read the musical notes as they sing along and (ii) sing in a non-linear tune which helps strengthen their sense of pitch now that the basic up and down patterns are well-practised.

Pause after each phrase and ask Pragnay to repeat it 2-3 times before moving on to the next line, so that the familiarity increases;
