Dear Parent,
This vocal exercise is part of the set that all students of classical music learn. Once the first stage of expanding the voice range, getting stability while singing, and being able to sing with ease in different directions is achieved, students move on to exercises created by jumping notes like these. Think of them like training exercises for their voices.
In this particular song, we are checking a few things: if students can jump and land correctly. Just like coming down a slope, the downward pattern is even more difficult and tests if the students have begun to create mind-maps of the notes.
Please also see our point-wise feedback below (based on needs work/ good/ excellent):
Confidence and Independence – excellent
Understanding of the concept or exercise – excellent
Singing/ Pitching – excellent
Rhythm – good
Overall control (volume, breath etc) – needs some work
Pronunciation/ recollection of lyrics – excellent
Notes: This is a tough exercise so we’re happy you have understood the concept well and are singing on your own.Pugazhmaaran has a strong voice, and can use his volume and breath further to control it better. We’d encourage you to replay this audio for himself and see if he feels he can use a more ‘singing’ vs ‘shouting’ voice. Rather than correcting them everytime, we try to make the child themselves sensitive to these aspects as part of their learning.
You’re in the final stretch of Course 1 – so keep up the pace. You will also get a Course Completion Certificate soon.
Hope you enjoy the last few lessons of Course 1. Please check details of Course 2 at https://www.tootly.in/courses which will help you take the momentum forward.
