Looks like you’ve collected a box full of sa, re, ga ma…with Mo and Mi too ! Good that you are back to your lessons after a short break! Keep up the good work and here are some favourites that Mo and Mi have sent for you! 🌟🌈🔫🐒
Dear Parent,
The seven notes that your child has just learnt are the basis of all (yes, all) music. While the language used here is Indian, the seven notes are universal to any form of music and this set is also known as an octave (in western music) or saptak (in Indian music). What you may have heard as solfege (in western music) or sargam (in Indian music) is nothing more than the use of these notes (literally – sargam = sa re ga ma..)
Please note that (1) these are early stages and the child may not be able to sing completely on her own. Even in a class, it is expected that the child listens to the teacher and sings after them; (2) since Akshara is back to her lessons after a gap of almost a month, it may take 1-2 lessons to get back into the singing groove.
We’re love that Akshara could recollect the names of the notes on her own, and she is singing so sincerely, using her voice so well – but we’d love for her to work a bit more on pitch accuracy and control. It would be great if you can re-do this assignment using part 2 of the recording video – ie, where Tootly sings a note and waits for the child to sing it. Please email it to [email protected]
PS: we see we have given the same feedback (of listening and singing phrase by phrase) in the previous assignment so do encourage her to do so for her own good :-). Are you facing any issue with recording like that? please let us know so we can help!
Look forward to hearing more from Akshara. The first teacher meet is due after completion of Day 5 – please check if you have scheduled one, and if not – do schedule one from your dashboard. We’d love to meet her. Please ignore if this was completed already.
